Date: 10 May 2007 (Friday) - Bye Bye, Thailand

SAF is so efficient. Initially, we were supposed to return to Singapore on 9th May 2007, because the C-130 plane was found with some technical faults and the CAT1 weather status, we have to stay in Thailand for one more day. The news was only made know to everyone when we were at the Thai airbase waiting anxiously to board the plane. In the end, we took a 2-hour bus ride back to Sai Yok Camp. Thank god, the weather was good, at around 12pm, we the plane took off and we reached Singapore at around 6pm.

Well, the 17 days spent at Sai Yok Camp was fun. Throughout the whole exercise, I was sitting in the OPS room mending the radio sets. My job was to monitor the convoy movement in and out of the camp, submitting parade state and some other admin duties, while the rest of the signalers were outfield mending the comms. I am considered lucky. No sweats, no smelly uniforms. I get to watch HBO at night too. Hehe. Hmm, think I miss the food at Sai Yok Camp, the canteen’s food was great. So cheap, SGD2 you can get pineapple rice with chicken cutlet. The “lady boss” was very entertaining too.

Afterall, the most memorable part was the R&R. We went to the floating market, World War II & Jeath War Museum, Death Railway, Samphran Elephant Ground & Zoo, Crocodile and Snake shows, Thai Human Imagery (Wax) Museum and Big “C” Shopping Centre. Took a photo with an elephant, it was weird cause I was pulling his ear, so thick and rough. Shopping was the highlight for me, the floating market was an eye opener, a rare experience, sitting on the sampan and shop. The Big “C” shopping centre was saddening cos it disappointed many of us, we are not aunties so the big hypermart (like Carrefour) did not appeal to us. But the good thing is the “pasar malam” outside that sells cheap and trendy stuff.

Thanks to Warrant Raja, he decided to give us two extra days off. Hmm, now I have around 20 days of leave and off to spare.

Date: 28 April 2007, Saturday - Ex. Crescendo

How should I start off? Well, I reached Nee Soon Camp at 6am on Tuesday and they sent us to Paya Lebar Airbase for take off. Although we reached the airbase at around 7.30am, we only manage to get into the C-130 plane at around 11.30am, reason being, is CAT 1 status (lightning and thunder), thus got to wait. Immune already. Army is all about waiting.

The flight took around 4 hours, it was a rollercoaster ride, as the plane fly up and down. Good thing is that they got provide food; lor mai kai, apple, peanuts, chicken patty and a drink. It was very squeezy inside the plane. We touched down at Thailand at around 4pm and took a bus for 2 hours to Sai Yok Camp.

Hmm... the camp looks pretty like a resort with very nice landscapes around, but the bunk sucks. Poor accomodation, then must put mosquito net to sleep. I won't want to say about the toilet. Go buy a thai VCD to see how the toilet look like.

God has been kind to me always. I don't need to go outfield with those cadets. I am sitting in the air-con OPS Room to mend the comms. Very admin job but 24-hour shift work. They will be going for two 4-day outfield. xiong right? Hmm... am looking forward to R&R. Five days have passed. I just have another 7 days to endure before paradise comes.

  • I may look ‘beng’ or ‘dao’, but I am actually an extrovert. Time will tell, I can yack non-stop, crap and express myself with the weirdest examples. I am crazy, but thats the way to distress ma. Being original, simple and honest are my primary goals in life, and I hate hypocrites and pretentious people. So devils, please stay away from me.

Backed in primary school, some catastrophe happened and that changed my goals in life. Well, I am working very hard for that ‘paper’ and that bright and promising future. $$$. I want to prove all those who have looked me down. I want to fight for that future!

“A promise made, will be delivered. And I hope for the same repayment” ...Come try me!

I have met some of my most important friends in life - god-send angels. I am grateful for their supportive and encouraging advices. We will work hard.

This is me, welcome to my world!
