What a confinement week last week due to the 7-day field camp. It started on 27th Oct and lasted till 2nd November. Thank god, it never rain heavily but drizzled for like 20 minutes during the shell scrap digging on second last day. My friends from the previous Hawk batches warned me that Hawk field camp is very shiong and demanding, indeed, it was, but lucky the conducting officer is from my platoon, so was relax a bit and given the fact that he is new and inexperienced, we did not kanna much from him. I guess the worst punishment was on the last day. We did 40 push-ups, 20 crutches, 20-sets-of-4 of alternate knee range and 20 push-ups again consecutively. That was hell.

First Campsite - Rubber Plantation
The field camp started with an 8km road march to our first campsite – rubber plantation. After lunch, we pitched our basha (in layman can be described as mini tent with no doors) and dig our drainage in anticipation of heavy rain that will damage our belongings. Then, there were classes till dinner and we had powder bath at around 6plus 7pm when it was getting dark. The funny thing is that you are clad in your underwear with your whole body white for powder bath inspection; it was fun laughing at one another. As it was dark, light was essential to assist us to travel around, thankfully, the conducting officer allows us to have “Deepavali” for the first night where we can shine our torch lights like nobody’s business.

The second day was similar to the previous day with dry lectures followed by practical sessions and before we know it, the day ended. But the sad thing is that I realised that whenever I open my food ration, I will vomit (the smell is horrible). For the 7 days, I only ate one food ration and the rest I threw away. I only survived with biscuits and desserts. The challenge of light discipline came, and we had to operate tactically with our torch light screen taped to 0.5cm by 0.5cm. So small the whole, see what.

Ill-Treatment at Oil Plantation
The third day, we had tactical training – movement by day, it lasted till 5pm and we settled down for dinner before we road march to the next campsite – oil plantation. Also don’t know why the route to the next site was wet and the front scout took us walked the “dry route”. We were the first platoon to reach and before we could catch back our breath, our platoon sergeant came and pumped us on the muddy ground with water (like potholes), yucks, reason being, we are scared to being dirty, thus he wants us to get ourselves dirty. We even did crutches there, imagine, how muddy you get after those punishments. Our morale went low when the other platoons we clean and we had to undergo all these. Then, we laid our ground sheet and slept as it was too dark to pitch our basha.

Technical Break
The fourth day was supposed to be technical break meaning admin time but some idiots don’t know how to shit, shit and never cover, then everyone have to get punished at the latrine area for one hour. We did push-ups and crutches at those shit areas, some of my friends even touched the shit cos they chose an unlucky spot to stand. The technical break was thus compromised and we only had like 4 hours. Finally, we had fresh rations from the cook house for lunch and dinner on the day. Free time ended around 6pm and we proceeded for night training – movement by night. We walked around the jungle and even encounter snakes while we were proning down.

Last Campsite - Reclaimed Land
The fifth day was a revision of what we have learnt, we had practical lessons and we shot blanks (only gun powder comes out) and I had the chance to play enemy which was fun when you see your peers panicking looking for the enemy. Before dinner, we moved on to our last campsite – reclaimed land. Everyone was allocated to one area to sleep and the place was full on insects such as centipedes, scorpions, red ants and other creepy crawlies. The sixth day was similar to the previous day but there was shell scrap digging (coffin digging) and fire trench digging. It was physically demanding and I got a lousy position where the ground is rather hard, unlike some, who got sandy ground. I dig for almost 2 hours. The fire trench was a joint effort by each section, everyone takes turns to dig. At night, we slept at our shell scrap with no ground laid on it; I wore my kortex jacket with the hat to sleep and used the ear plug to protect my ears from anything that crawls into my ear. It was an experience to sleep in the hole.

The last day was covering the holes and going for the Basic Inoculation Course where we had to do leopard and back crawl for around 80m with live machine guns firing above us. That was hell man, after 40m, I feel so tired but knowing that it was the last test, I endured. Then, we road march another 3km back to company line. That moment you see your company line was indescribable, I did have some tears in my eyes for a while as I endured the 7 days and gave myself a pad for that.

Oh Ya, I did not shit for the entire 7 days, think because I did not eat much but I camped in the toilet for a while as the shit was too hard and difficult to be deposited. It was washing, washing and washing when we came back. There were no activities for the day and the following day. Thankfully, those COC personnels have the chance to book out on Fri evening which was the best reward for my body and mind.

Well, have to book in this evening at 1825hrs.
Sit Test is on 9th Nov (Thurs) to 11th Nov (Sat) and I only get to book out on Saturday evening, which is something not anticipating.

  • I may look ‘beng’ or ‘dao’, but I am actually an extrovert. Time will tell, I can yack non-stop, crap and express myself with the weirdest examples. I am crazy, but thats the way to distress ma. Being original, simple and honest are my primary goals in life, and I hate hypocrites and pretentious people. So devils, please stay away from me.

Backed in primary school, some catastrophe happened and that changed my goals in life. Well, I am working very hard for that ‘paper’ and that bright and promising future. $$$. I want to prove all those who have looked me down. I want to fight for that future!

“A promise made, will be delivered. And I hope for the same repayment” ...Come try me!

I have met some of my most important friends in life - god-send angels. I am grateful for their supportive and encouraging advices. We will work hard.

This is me, welcome to my world!
