Booked out on Thursday after last parade at 5.30pm, because, I took half-day off this Friday morning. As the afternoon 9km run would be conducted at Bedok Reservoir, it would make more sense to go there on our own and take advantage of time difference since I don’t need to report to camp at 12pm, instead gather with the rest at 3pm.

This week was an excursion week. On Monday, we went to Kallang Sports Club to witness the victory of 3rd Division, challenging against MINDEF and Navy for the Inter-Formation Table Tennis Championship. On Tuesday, after the morning run, everyone fall in to attend MWO Mike Yee’s funeral at Mandai Crematorium & Columbarium. He was the ex-Sergeant Major of our brigade, thus they wanted us to pay him the last respect. It was a grand event with over two hundred army personnels present. Even the military band was there. We were asked to form up two rows along the pavement and salute him when his memorial vehicle passes us.

Wednesday was SAR21 technical handling test, in preparation for the live range next Tuesday. After which, I went for guard duty. An alarming event happened! Two prowlers finished patrolling two rounds in one hour (supposed to be one round, one hour) and they were excused to attend staff parade since the parade coincide with their duties. In practice, they should be supposed to be “hiding” at some checkpoints, but they were playing PS2 in bunk. After the staff parade, the duty officer (DO) asked for their location through the walkie-talkie, but there were no replies. Then he went round the camp looking for them, but found neither of them. Their friends tried calling them but they failed to pick up. After several attempts, they answered and rushed back to the guard room, however, on their way back, they bumped into the DO. That’s when all the interrogation (and scolding) starts…. The outcome: they were given extras by the DO with a possibility of being sent to detention barracks (DB) depending on the decision of our OC. In the past, those who were found in bunks sleeping during duties were charged and sent to DB.

Hmm, I just hope that their wrongdoings would not have any (negative) impact to the company since I still have 14 months to go. You know when the boss gets angry; they would implement a lot of new (inhumane) things such as regular SOC trainings, PTs or route marches. Anything is possible, cos the army is about ranks NOT brains.

Backed in primary school, some catastrophe happened and that changed my goals in life. Well, I am working very hard for that ‘paper’ and that bright and promising future. $$$. I want to prove all those who have looked me down. I want to fight for that future!
