Post-virus sai-gang all the way; and it really means shitty work! The whole IS team had to install the latest virus definition onto every laptops, take down the serial numbers of computers that do not have encryption/decryption rights (which is about 40+ OA terminals’ USB ports to block) and scanning of every OA terminal. We decided for the OA terminal scan, we appoint one person from each branch to take charge of the scan monthly, this way, our workload can be lightened by 10% (maybe).

Aside from that post-virus sai gang, the iNet terminals were all down over the weekend. My last weekend was disturbed by the COS to enquiry why the iNet was not working. Hmm, if I am not in camp, how will I know? When I returned back to office on Sunday night, one mouse ball was missing at one iNet, the iNet is still not up and what’s worst, the Signal Company’s iNet was diagnosed with a hard disk failure. Monday came, all the branch called to get us to fix, and we really did not know what to do. Already so many thing to do, and people are calling for this and that. We are really like prostitutes. My phone rings almost 4 times a day, see how bad it is!

Since the hard disk crashed, we decided to get someone to fix. And, we engaged SCS (a SAF-appointed vendor) and they quoted $280 for an 80GB hard disk (inclusive of $100 transportation and installation costs). Daylight robbery! After some argument by my CSM and the S4 (logistics) side, they gave us the green light to buy from other vendors. Eventually, for the same product, we got it for $78. The rest of the iNet have resumed operations (upon contacting SingNet on the internet connection failure) but not our iNet, cos the hard disk has yet to arrive.

Luckily the ICCT was cancelled (again) this week, if not I will shack out. Next week, there will be new guys (7men and 1 spec) posting to the unit, not sure how many of them will join the horrendous IS team, which will downsize to 50% of present strength soon. Sad, the high key period from October to December will mean more shit landing on us.

Reporting back to camp later at around 9.30pm to watch 周日八点党, you must think I am crazy to book in on Saturday night right? Becos, I am the COS on Sunday and I stay far from camp!
